Shaping the Urban Future through Sustainable Education

The Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) initiated the Grow A Classroom project to address the deplorable conditions in public schools across Kenya. Many institutions face challenges such as dilapidated infrastructure, insufficient ventilation, and encroachment. By integrating professional design with environmental stewardship, AAK aims to transform learning environments for over 55,000 schools nationwide.
We are actively seeking partners to roll out this initiative across all 47 counties in Kenya.
Development of comprehensive school master plans ensuring logical layout, efficient land-use and guided future expansions.
Landscape planning to create cooler and productive outdoor environments that enhance play and learning, through the strategic integration of indigenous, ornamental, timber and fruit species.
Planting and growing trees for future sustainable timber harvesting, creating a renewable on-site resource for construction and furniture needs.
Restoring landscapes through tree planting and nurturing a culture of environmental stewardship, while promoting awareness of the importance of trees and healthy ecosystems.
Monetization of carbon credits to create a sustainable revenue stream for educational institutions.
